A report can have the right numbers and still be difficult to read. When you commission annual report design, you are paying for the decisions that turn approved content into a publication people can navigate: a clear opening, readable results, useful charts and a consistent visual voice. The sensible budget depends on how much of that work you need.
For a concrete starting point, COLONFILM’s design-only packages are $390 USD, $690 USD and $990 USD for up to 16, 32 and 48 finished pages, including covers. This is our published scope, not a claimed market average. Below, we explain what to compare before choosing a designer.

How much does annual report design cost?
Published prices describe very different purchases. A freelancer’s layout fee, a studio’s custom design package and an agency project with interviews and writing are not interchangeable. Start by separating design from content creation, then compare the same deliverables.
Two public examples show why scope matters: Billal Hossain lists $450 for 16–24 pages and $750 for up to 40 pages, with content supplied. The Ethical Agency lists $1,750–$2,750 for its 24–36-page tier with project management and art direction; its fee guide bases page count on the supplied Word or Google document. These are individual providers’ advertised prices checked on October 6, 2026, not equivalent quotes or a market survey.
What changes the quote?
| Cost factor | What to clarify |
|---|---|
| Content readiness | Approved copy and final figures, or editing, interviews and unfinished tables? |
| Page complexity | A flowing text page, a dense financial table and a custom infographic need different treatment. |
| Design direction | An update to an existing layout, or a new cover and page system? |
| Editions | One language and size, or several translations, a microsite and campaign graphics? |
| Review and handoff | Number of feedback rounds, source files, printer specifications and accessibility requirements. |
Send a difficult representative page with your request: a table with notes, a programme summary with photographs, or a chart that needs rebuilding. A designer can scope that more accurately than “about thirty pages.” Include your previous report if there is one, even if you want the new edition to look completely different.
COLONFILM annual report design packages
| Package | Price | Final pages / simple charts or tables | Revision rounds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential report | $390 USD | Up to 16 / 4 | 2 |
| Complete report | $690 USD | Up to 32 / 8 | 3 |
| Extended report | $990 USD | Up to 48 / 12 | 4 |
All three include a custom cover and interior, a screen PDF with links and a clickable contents page, a print PDF prepared to your supplied printer specifications, and editable InDesign files (INDD and IDML). Each package covers one language and one page size. You supply approved copy, data and usable brand assets. See the full package details and ordering options.
Writing, translation, printing, complex infographics and certified PDF accessibility are outside these packages. If any of those is part of your brief, ask before ordering so the proposal states what can be provided and what needs a separate specialist. A navigable PDF is not, by itself, an accessibility certification.
How to budget a 32-page nonprofit report
Consider a hypothetical foundation with approved text, six simple charts, one language and 32 final pages including the covers. It needs print and screen PDFs plus editable files. That fits the published limits of our Complete report package. If the same foundation also needs interviews, a second language and a website version, the page count has not changed, but the purchase has. Those additions need their own scope.
To reduce cost sensibly, decide which content belongs in this edition, consolidate feedback and choose the formats you will actually distribute. Do not compress a long manuscript into tiny type just to stay inside a package. Ask for a content review and page estimate before committing if you do not know the finished length.
What should you see before approving the design?

A cover establishes the first impression. The interior has to sustain it. Ask to review a representative sample using your content: a normal text page, a data-heavy page and a section opener. Check hierarchy, captions, spacing and whether the charts can be understood without a spoken explanation. A beautiful mockup is a starting point for discussion, not proof that every production detail is solved.
How long does the design take?
Our package delivery periods are 14, 21 and 28 days respectively, starting once the required materials are complete. Agree how client review time affects the schedule. Work backwards from publication: allow time for your team’s approval, final file checks and, if printing, the printer’s proof and production. The design delivery date and the day copies arrive are different dates.
What to send for a useful quote
- Your current draft or previous report, and its approximate length.
- Number of charts, tables, photographs and required languages.
- Who approves the content, and when the final copy and figures will be ready.
- Required files, target publication date and budget range.
Use our annual report design brief and checklist to gather those details. Then tell us about your report, or compare the visual directions and packages if your scope is already clear.
