Amazon A+ Book Content: Mistakes to Fix Before Submission

An A+ submission deserves two reviews: one for the reader and one for the platform. The first asks whether the content explains the book clearly. The second checks whether the chosen modules and assets meet the current submission requirements.

Keeping those reviews separate helps you spot both an unhelpful design and a technically unsuitable export. A file can be beautifully composed and still need changes before submission.

Repeating the listing instead of extending it

Authors often begin by turning the book description into a sequence of images. That can create a long page without adding much information. Ask what a reader still wants to know after seeing the cover and description.

For a series, the answer may be reading order or differences between volumes. For a workbook, it may be an example of the exercises. For a novel, it may be the emotional tone and world. Build the modules around that missing information.

Designing for the largest preview only

Large desktop mockups make small text look safer than it is. Review the artwork at a narrow width and ask someone unfamiliar with the project to identify the main message of each module.

If they need to zoom in to understand ordinary copy, simplify the graphic. Reduce competing headlines, shorten explanations and use the module's text fields where suitable. An interior sample should show the book clearly rather than become an unreadable wall of miniature type.

Losing track of source material

Keep an asset register with the source and permitted use of photographs, illustrations, typefaces and cover elements. Save the approved copy alongside the exported graphics so later corrections can be traced to the right version.

This matters particularly when several people have contributed to a cover or author brand. A folder containing a file is not evidence that every promotional use has been cleared.

Skipping the current platform review

Amazon's A+ guidelines prohibit pricing promotions, purchase prompts and customer reviews, among other restrictions. Check that page against the actual submission rather than relying on an old example found online.

Also confirm the selected module dimensions and export settings in the account where you will submit. Keep marketplace, language and title assignments visible in the handoff so a correct design is not attached to the wrong book.

Treating approval as proof of performance

Platform approval means the content has passed that submission process; it does not establish a sales result. Evaluate whether the modules answer reader questions and remain consistent with the book over time.

COLONFILM's A+ packages start at $190 for three modules and include a placement guide. Before commissioning, provide the cover, final description, target marketplace and any existing feedback from Amazon. That gives the design work a clear starting point and keeps avoidable resubmissions out of the process.
